  • What Makes A Good Restaurant?

    Characteristics of good Prescott restaurant

What makes you choose a restaurant?

Facets of making a great restaurant

The food obviously - but what about the location, seating, how far apart the tables are, service, the staff in general, the surroundings, the general ambiance and of course the price?

Particularly in the current climate, restaurants have to make us want to go there, whether for a quick lunch, dinner with friends or a special occasion meal. But what makes one better than the other? Do you follow the recommendations (or otherwise) of food critics' reviews or food guides?

    Restaurant Ambiance

Nothing beats a wonderful setting in a Prescott restaruant

Dining at a good restaurant gives patrons the chance to relax, unwind and a enjoy convivial social atmosphere while eating a delicious meal. So what turns a first-time customer into a repeat one? Successful restaurants often have many of the same qualities and characteristics. A good restaurant creates an overall pleasing experience by combining professionalism, good food and ambiance for the enjoyment of the customer.

As any successful restaurateur knows, the atmosphere of a restaurant will either make or break the business. Customers like their dining experience to be enjoyable and that includes the location, mood, feel, character and atmosphere. Factors that affect the ambiance of a restaurant include decor, background music, openness, comfort of seating and harshness of the lighting.

    Restaurant Service Bartender

One of the most essential parts to a good dining experience

Excellent service is a key characteristic of a successful restaurant. Patrons of the restaurant pay not only for the meal, but also for the experience of being served. Poor service, such as hovering, non-existent, unfriendly or rude wait staff ruins the meal for the customer and discourages repeat customers. Typically, excellent service is so flawless a patron will hardly notice the transition between refills, bringing or clearing plates and other service actions.

    Picture of Good Restaurant Food

    Tasty Food

An obvious element of any successful restaurant

A restaurant can have all of the above characteristics, but without good food, it will fail. Good food is the foundation of any successful restaurant; good food is the reason why customers patronize the establishment. Factors affecting good food include compatibility of flavors, authentic cooking of different styles of food, innovation in creating new and interesting dishes and presentation of the dishes.

    Prescott Restaurant Cleanliness

Having all of the above means nothing if your restaurant doesn't shine

Cleanliness in a restaurant is essential. Keeping the restaurant clean is essential to avoid potential illness to customers, encourage repeat customers and create a good first impression. All areas of the restaurant must be kept clean, including the front of the house, the back of the house, employee areas, restrooms, and any other areas that are not visible to customers. Cleanliness also extends to employee hygiene.

    Restaurant Pricing

    Cost versus Value

Price of a restaurant determines if a customer is coming back

The price of the food takes into account all characteristics of the restaurant. Restaurant patrons expect prices to reflect the level of service, type of food and the atmosphere of the establishment. Unreasonably high prices upset customers and discourage repeat business. Unreasonably low prices make customers suspicious about the quality of the restaurant, resulting in diminished repeat customers. Successful restaurants are able to set balanced prices that meet the customer’s expectations.

  • What it takes to make a really great Restaurant.

Not all dining establishments are made the same...

    High-Quality Food

A good restaurant sets a high standard for its food quality and ensures that guests receive the same quality with every meal. Serving quality food can earn your restaurant a good reputation and compel your guests to return for repeat visits. High-quality ingredients and an experienced cook are important to serving good food consistently. A good cook understands your guests' needs and works well with the kitchen staff to ensure that guests receive their meal the way they ordered it every time.

    Good Overall Experience

Providing good customer service in a clean environment helps to enhance your guests’ overall experience of your restaurant. The staff who interact with your guests should be courteous and maintain a positive attitude. Servers should know the menu well, deliver guests’ food and drinks on time, and quickly address any issues that an unsatisfied guest may have. All staff should help to keep the restaurant clean at all times, including the kitchen, food preparation areas and any areas that guests come into contact with.

    Different from the Rest

If your restaurant provides good food and service but is too similar to other restaurants, customers may overlook your restaurant when deciding where to dine. A good restaurant should have one or more unique features that stand out in a customer’s mind and give it a competitive advantage over others. For example, your restaurant may be the only restaurant in town that makes its ingredients fresh daily or it may have an amazing view of the city that none of your competitors have.

    Good Business Management

A good restaurant owner manages the business aspect of the restaurant properly, which increases the chances that it can provide quality food and service without interruption. Running your restaurant properly can also help boost your small business’s profits. You must manage your restaurant’s finances, keep good records and stay current with regulatory requirements, such as taxes and health inspections. For example, consistently paying your vendors on time reduces the risk of running out of items on your menu.
